The Role

We're seeking a highly skilled and passionate Backend Developer to join our growing team and play a pivotal role in building the robust and scalable foundation of our platform. You'll be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing key backend functionalities that power ScholarLink's AI-driven matching system, user management, data pipelines, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, data scientists, and product managers, to understand user needs and translate them into robust backend solutions.
  • Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable and secure backend APIs using strong programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Python, Java, Django, Spring).
  • Implement efficient data structures and algorithms to ensure optimal performance and scalability of the platform.
  • Integrate with third-party APIs and services to enable core functionalities.
  • Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to establishing coding best practices.
  • Identify and troubleshoot backend issues to ensure smooth platform operation.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest backend development technologies and trends.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • +3 years of experience developing backend applications for web or mobile platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., Python, Java).
  • Solid understanding of web application architecture (MVC, RESTful APIs).
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
