Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive patient care in accordance with Alberta Health Services and AHS policy and procedures.
  • Provide relief staffing to various units, including Plastic/Reconstructive, General Surgery, Urology, ENT/Otolaryngology, Trauma, and Orthopedic Surgery.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to make decisions and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Take on charge nurse responsibilities as required.
  • Provide a wide range of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making to provide quality patient care.
  • Teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.
  • Support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • Completion of CRNA Medication Management - Chapters and NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (if not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five years).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current IV therapy, Pre-op/Post-op care protocols, Central line/PICC care, Ostomy care, basic surgical wound/drain care, complex wound care, and negative pressure wounds (VAC dressing).
  • NG tube insertion and management, TPN administration, PCA/PCEA/TAP management, Insulin infusion protocols, and blood product administration.
  • Strong patient teaching skills.
  • Charge Nurse and Connect Care (EPIC) trained.
