Job Summary

Rising Edge Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer or Journeyman Electrician to join our team. As a key member of our electrical team, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment in our 13.8kV to 500 kV substations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical System Installation and Maintenance: Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain different electrical systems, faulty equipment, and apparatus, including transformers, circuit breakers, switches, switchgears, instrument transformers, relays, and other related equipment.
  • Structural Steel Installation: Install structural steel as required for substation construction.
  • Operation of Construction Equipment: Operate construction equipment such as skid steer, mini hoe, manlifts, and zoombooms.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Comply with Rising Edge Group's Health and Safety Manual and industry safety regulations.
  • Leadership and Training: Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring, and training to PSE/Electrical Apprentices in understanding, identifying, and resolving technical issues.
  • Inspection and Testing: Responsible for inspection and testing of high-voltage electrical equipment installed in a substation.
  • Ground Grid Installation: Lead installation and facilitate planning of ground grids, assembly of power system equipment, cabling, and wiring.
  • Substation Equipment Maintenance: Perform and facilitate substation equipment maintenance according to company and industry standards.
Requirements
  • Certification: Valid and recognized Power Systems Electrician Journeyman or Journeyman Electrician Certificate.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of work experience as a PSE/Electrician with at least 2 years of experience working in substations required.
  • Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of the Alberta Electrical Utility Code (A.E.U.C Safety Codes Act) and Occupational Health and Safety rules as they relate to the PSE/Electrician role.
  • Driver's License: Have a valid Alberta Provincial Class 5 driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft Windows, Office, and computer-based test equipment would be an asset.
  • Pre-Access Requirements: Must meet pre-access Drug & Alcohol testing requirements.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to work comfortably at heights and in adverse weather conditions.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability and willingness to work out of town and travel to remote sites.
