Role Overview

The Pet Nutrition Research Specialist will spearhead various projects at Champion Petfoods, focusing on commercial diet formulations and essential nutritional research. This role involves collaboration with global research partners to advance nutritional studies that align with our goals of promoting pet health and longevity. The Specialist will be responsible for developing research diets and collaborating with the product development team to bring these diets to fruition. Additionally, the role will identify opportunities to enhance and differentiate our formulations in line with our food philosophy and corporate values.

This position is primarily based at our Research and Innovation Centre, with some responsibilities at our other facilities and a flexible work schedule between home and office.

Daily Responsibilities:

Oversee feeding trial projects, including the creation of experimental diets, coordination with product development, and communication with research partners. Present findings from feeding trials to product development, innovation, marketing, and executive teams. Share research results with sales teams, customer service, and distribution partners. Support the Veterinary Engagement team at veterinary conferences and engage with professionals in a booth setting. Collaborate on innovative ideas and solutions for future growth in key consumer areas. Stay informed on scientific advancements in dog and cat nutrition through conferences and literature reviews. Conduct statistical analysis and interpretation of trial data, contributing to team innovation and future platform development.

Qualifications:

PhD in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science, or a related field preferred. Strong foundation in nutrition, with experience in companion animals being advantageous. Minimum of 3 years of robust research experience, including study design, execution, collaboration, data analysis, and dissemination. Proficient in scientific writing and effective communication. Excellent written and presentation skills are beneficial. Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team member.
