Global Mainframe Network Architect for Complex Environments

We are seeking a highly skilled Global Mainframe Network Architect to join our team at S.i. Systems.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex mainframe network environments for our clients.

About the Role:

This is a full-time remote position that requires a high level of expertise in z/OS Network Systems Programming, Communication Server, and other related technologies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement complex mainframe network architectures
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing networks
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and management to ensure high levels of satisfaction
  • Act as a resource and point of escalation for global team members
  • Provide planning and recommendations for changes on hardware and software components
  • Implement network software upgrades and perform testing and implementation with network service providers and application teams

Requirements:

  • At least 5+ years' experience performing z/OS system support/programming and Host Network experience
  • Demonstrable skills in z/OS Network Systems Programming in a multi-LPAR Sysplex environment: Communication Server, VTAM, SNA, APPN, Enterprise Extender, Subarea routing, Logmode tables
  • Communication Server TCP/IP: OSA, OSPF, zOSMF, DVIPA, DDVIPA. Network Security: PAGENT, SSL/TLS, Configuration Assistant, SSH
  • Network Monitoring: (One or more) NetView, CA-NetMaster, OMEGAMON for Networks
  • File Transfer (Two or more): Connect:Direct, CA-XCOM, ftp(s), SFTP, NetView FTP, Co:Z, Tectia
  • Session managers (one or more): CA-TPX, CL-Supersession, NetView Access Services, Teleview, VTAM/Switch
  • Print products: CA-Spool, IBM Infoprint, VPS
  • Diagnostic skills are a must, including the ability to interpret job and task logs, syslogs, and traces
  • Ability to train and coach junior team members and build proficient network skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and accounts

Salary:

The estimated salary for this role is between $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
