Job Title: Midstream Market Analyst

FortisBC is seeking a highly skilled Midstream Market Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our Energy Supply and Resource Development group, you will play a critical role in ensuring the needs of our core customers are met on a consistent basis.

The successful candidate will have a strong analytical mindset and be able to provide strategic support to our team. You will be responsible for assisting with the execution of the daily plan to meet our core load in a cost-effective manner, including mitigation activity. This will involve liaising with Gas Control, Gas Accounting, and Finance groups, as well as with external customers.

We are looking for someone who can take strategic relationship-building to the next level when working with energy teams across the Company. If you have a strong understanding of gas supply resources and are able to provide analytical support to our business unit, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a general understanding of gas supply resources as defined in the Annual Contracting Plan optimization and mitigation strategies.
  • Nominate and schedule daily quantities on third-party portals and in the Horizon ETRM software.
  • Provide weekend, after-hours, and holiday coverage as part of the midstream on-call rotation.
  • Support the development of the Annual Contracting Plan and other Gas Supply regulatory filings.
  • Provide analytical support to the Energy Support business unit.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of three years of recent and related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Substantial knowledge of the utility industry is an asset.
  • Sharp analytical thinking to identify problems, provide solutions, and support various business units.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues across the Company.
  • Superior strategic and innovative thinking in decision-making for supporting regulatory filings.
