Underwriting Strategist

We are seeking a skilled Underwriting Strategist to join our team at Zurich Canada. This is a remote opportunity.

1. Serve as an advocate for commercial insurance solutions, focusing on improving customer experiences through risk understanding and tailored coverage.
2. Develop and nurture broker networks related to mid-market customers, targeting key industries outlined in our business strategy.
3. Identify opportunities through local relationships, proactively seeking renewal and new account opportunities that drive growth and profitability for our Middle Market portfolio.
4. Apply a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment, and pricing, ensuring alignment with business strategy and organizational appetite.
5. Evaluate accounts to ensure they align with our business goals, balancing sound business opportunities with risk management considerations.
6. Analyze exposure and utilize risk insights and analytical tools to inform decision-making at the point of sale.
7. Cross-sell other lines of business to enhance product density and provide a comprehensive Zurich solution to clients.
8. Demonstrate effective portfolio management by leveraging performance metrics, data, and insights to improve portfolio performance and drive diversified growth.
9. Maintain strong partnerships with UAs within the Underwriting Services team to ensure proactive engagement with brokers and excellent customer service focused on timeliness and accuracy of quotes, policy issuance, and premium booking.
10. Provide mentorship and support training initiatives for less experienced underwriters, as required.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A High School Diploma or Equivalent, combined with 5+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles; OR
• A High School Diploma or Equivalent, combined with 10+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support roles; OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles; OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree and 8+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support roles;
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

We also welcome candidates with:

• Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience in commercial P&C underwriting.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
