About This Opportunity

Black & McDonald's Ottawa team is expanding, and we're seeking an analytical and collaborative professional to join our estimating department. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in analyzing costs and preparing work take-offs and estimates for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare detailed estimates of cost of materials, labor, and equipment for construction projects based on contract drawings/specifications, quotations, and schematic drawings.
  2. Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers, and architects to ensure accurate pricing and tendering.
  3. Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, and project meetings to ensure seamless project execution.
  4. Develop and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  5. Liaise with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to prepare economic feasibility studies and cost estimates.
  6. Conduct material and equipment purchasing for secured jobs.
  7. Update and maintain our estimating database.

Education and Experience Requirements

Post-secondary education in Engineering or Business/Commerce, with 3-5 years of experience in the construction industry.

Skills and Abilities

Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project) and excellent analytical and communication skills.
