Job Title: Transportation Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Manager to join our team at North Eastern Trucking Inc.

Job Summary:

The Transportation Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our transportation department, ensuring that all shipments are delivered on time and in good condition. This includes managing a team of drivers, coordinating with customers, and developing and implementing transportation strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate daily operations to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Monitor department's performance and provide regular reports to senior management.
  • Plan and organize daily operations, including scheduling and dispatching of vehicles and goods.
  • Plan for changes to schedules and policies, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare reports for senior management, including financial reports and transportation metrics.
  • Recruit and supervise staff, including drivers and logistics coordinators.
  • Train staff on transportation procedures and policies.
  • Manage finances or budget, including tracking expenses and revenue.
  • Arrange for shipping documentation and the tracking and tracing of goods in transit.
  • Ensure transport compliance with regulations, including safety and security protocols.
  • Establish and implement policies and standards for the transportation and storage of goods.
  • Negotiate for services and preferential rates with suppliers and carriers.
  • Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of vehicles and goods, and monitor revenue.
  • Organize and maintain inventory, including tracking and reporting on stock levels.
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
  • Fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
Experience:
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a transportation or logistics role.
