We are currently seeking a skilled Legal Counsel to join our team. As a generalist, this role will provide legal support across multiple commercial areas of the business, focusing on sales and export, real estate and commercial leasing, operations, and liquor licensing law.

Main Duties:
  1. Provide comprehensive contract negotiation, drafting, and review services across various business areas, including sales, procurement, operations, supply chain, finance, and other agreements.
  2. Ensure regulatory compliance with laws, regulations, and policies related to liquor licensing, real estate and commercial leasing, transportation, municipal law, importation and export of goods, and provide expert advice and research on these matters.
  3. Collaborate with external counsel on specific projects, reviewing initial advice and offering internal recommendations.
  4. Deliver expert advice and training on legal compliance of product and business operations, encompassing liquor regulation (AGCO and other Canadian provinces), real estate and commercial leasing, transportation, municipal law, supply chain, and corporate compliance requirements in relevant Canadian provinces.
  5. Develop and refine standard form agreements, review procedures, and automation systems; provide comprehensive legal reporting, resources, and policy drafting.
Required Skills:
  • Law Degree (J.D. or LL.B.) from an accredited law school.
  • Membership in the bar of Ontario.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in the legal department of a large company or a reputable law firm.
  • Expertise in corporate commercial law, real estate and commercial leasing law, and/or supply chain and procurement matters, as well as drafting and reviewing contracts.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
