About the Role

The Global Wealth Engineering Technology Team at Scotiabank is seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead to join our team. As a Technical Lead, you will be responsible for leading technical decision-making for our scrum teams, collaborating with solutions architects and other technical leads. You will also develop coding standards and testing approaches, guide your team through technical issues and challenges, and delegate work and assignments to team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with delivery lead to plan milestones, successfully execute software delivery, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Work closely with product owners and BSAs to plan next-in-priority technical items in the backlog.
  • Design and develop UI & API based on Cloud solutions, such as Microsoft Azure, Google GCP.
  • Analyze highly complex business requirements; generate technical specifications to design or redesign complex software components and applications.
  • Leverage industry best practices to design, test, implement and support a solution.
  • Assure quality security and compliance requirements are met for supported area.
  • Be flexible and thrive in an evolving environment.
  • Working experience in performance analysis and tuning.
  • Provide estimates on activities/tasks required to perform design, coding and unit testing.
  • Complete technical documentation and training material.
  • Provides production support for applications maintained.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience building scalable, enterprise level technology stacks with Java and javascRIPT but ideally with a broad set of tools.
  • Strong proficiency in front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React).
  • Strong knowledge in web service development with Java 8+ or above, JAX-WS, JAX-RS, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data and Swagger/OAS (Open API Specification).
  • Proven experience in Java back-end development with the following technologies: JDK 8+, GitHub, REST, Spring, Spring Boot, Apache CXF, Microservices, SOAP, Swagger, Apache / Tomcat, SQL.
  • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with Dockers & K8s.
  • 5 + years database development stored procedures with SQL, AzureSQL, Sybase OR MS SQL.
  • Experience in application monitoring software, including Dynatrace, Splunk or their equivalent tools.
  • Practical experience designing and developing microservices using modern practices/techniques including Domain-Driven Design, event driven architectures, reactive programming and distributed caching.
