Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join our team at Vantage Living Inc. as a key member of our food services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to our residents, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals for residents, adhering to standardized recipes and menu plans;
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and sanitation regulations;
- Work collaboratively with the General Manager and other team members to ensure seamless food service delivery;
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance resident satisfaction and experience;
- Manage kitchen inventory, supplies, and equipment, ensuring efficient use of resources;
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, responding to their dietary needs and preferences;
- Collaborate with the dietician to ensure special diet requirements are met and therapeutic meals are prepared as needed;
- Prepare daily snacks, including baked goods and beverages, and work with residents to involve them in meal preparation as part of our recreational program;
- Conduct food and service audits to ensure quality and consistency;
- Work within the food services operating budget, maintaining accurate records of food and supply purchases, inventory control, and wastage.
Requirements
- Experience in volume cooking, preferably in a restaurant environment;
- Formal culinary training an asset;
- Food Safe - Level II certification required;
- Solid understanding of customer-centered service provision consistent with the intent and philosophy of assisted living and in support of exemplary service delivery;
- Ability to organize and prepare nutritious and appealing meals with minimal supervision and respond to the changing needs and preferences of residents;
- Interest and motivation to enhance cooking and kitchen management skills under the direction of a trained Chef;
- Knowledge of provincial health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
