We are seeking a skilled Senior Healthcare Interior Designer to join our team at Diamond Schmitt Architects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of interior architecture and a passion for design innovation and excellence.

As a key member of our team, you will work closely with Principals, Associates, Interior Designers, and Architects to contribute design ideas and provide direction to project teams.

Key Responsibilities


Lead the development of interior design projects that push the boundaries of traditional healthcare environments

Understand, develop, and execute all phases of a design project, including proposals, contracts, budgeting, concept, planning, design, documentation, specifications, finishes, and materials selection, furniture specifications, construction, QAQC, and closeout

Strive for design solutions that promote innovation and are thoughtful and functional

Maintain industry connections and introduce project teams to new materials that are innovative, sustainable, and compliant with LEED and building code standards

Participate in resource allocation for interior design projects

Continually strive for improved efficiencies while reducing drawing and specification errors and omissions

Work with teams to develop interior finishes and specifications

Embrace the opportunity to be involved in a variety of project work, potentially working on multiple projects at any given time

Coordinate all FF&E and interior architectural plans, finishes, and products with the client and project consultants as necessary

Leadership


Lead and work collaboratively with Interior Designers and Architects in the development of interiors concepts

Initiate and maintain contact with key project individuals to clarify, coordinate, and negotiate critical issues

Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities

Be proactive and foresee issues before they arise while ensuring project teams execute required deliverables on or before project deadlines

Participate in design charrettes and critiques that offer insight and challenge

Contribute to the development of systems and processes for improved design, technical quality, and client service

Create sound relationships with colleagues, clients, contractors, and suppliers to promote repeat business

Assist in the development of project goals, targets, and schedules

Direct and review design development, construction documents, and shop drawings for content, accuracy, and overall design integrity

Serve as primary contact for all sub-consultants, supporting the relevant project teams

Management


Manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously with minimal or no supervision

Be responsible for project budget management

Prepare promotional material and participate in Business Development activities

Continue to demonstrate excellent communication while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, consultants, and suppliers

Maintain positive client relationships and ensure clients are apprised of regular project progress throughout the duration of a project

Participate in managing the interior design team regarding staffing, project assignments, and internal education

Ensure consistent engagement, review, and coordination with consultants and drawings documents throughout the project

Demonstrate superior organizational skills and be efficient with time management

Mentor Junior, Intermediate, and Intern designers in all aspects of design, including office standards and policies

Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Interior Design and/or Architecture

Minimum 10-15 years' experience as an Interior Designer

ARIDO/IDC certification

High proficiency in Revit

Knowledge of 3D Modeling software, Sketch Up, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign graphic software an asset

Variety of project work experience in both the commercial and residential sectors

BCIN, LEED, and/or Well certification an asset

Ability to oversee, direct, and mentor project teams with minimal oversight

Knowledge of design resources and evidence of creative sourcing/products, and creative problem-solving

Proven client management skills and experience

Team player that thrives in a collaborative studio

Excellent time management skills and the ability to balance multiple project demands
