Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse - Elders' Home to join our team at the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB). As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to our elderly residents, promoting their physical, emotional, and social well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the health condition of residents and develop individualized care plans to meet their unique needs.
  • Assume a leadership role in the nursing team, providing guidance and support to nursing assistants and patient attendants.
  • Collaborate with the management team and head nurse to coordinate services and ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Provide education and support to residents and their families on health-related topics and promote healthy behaviors.
  • Participate in research activities aimed at improving healthcare outcomes and promoting health and wellness.
Requirements
  • Member of the Order of Quebec Nurses (O.I.I.Q.)
  • DEC in Nursing
  • Minimum of two years' experience in different sectors of a hospital
  • One year of experience in a CHSLD is an asset
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Cree culture and social and health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset
  • Advanced clinical knowledge in gerontology and geriatric nursing is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
  • Leadership skills to manage a work team
Language
  • Fluent in English
  • Fluency in Cree or French is an asset
