Nursing Unit Assistant

We are seeking a Casual Nursing Unit Assistant to join our team at Penticton Regional Hospital. This is a Casual opportunity, which means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritize, process, coordinate, and transcribe physicians' orders
- Act as a communication link for the Unit
- Schedule, book, and coordinate patient/resident appointments
- Assemble and maintain patient/resident charts, input patient/resident data, and transcribe information into relevant systems
- Clerical duties, including keyboarding, data entry, filing, compiling, preparing, and maintaining statistics, producing reports, delivering, and picking up items
- Maintain timekeeping records for regular and relief staff and submit/enter to payroll systems
- Observe patient/resident call signals and relay messages to the appropriate personnel
Requirements:
- Completion of Grade 12
- A current Typing Test of 40 wpm or greater completed within the past 48 months from a recognized institution
- A Nursing Unit Clerk Certificate
- Your Resume
- A Cover Letter stating your availability to start in a new position
Casual employment includes short-notice, on-call availability, workload coverage during a temporary absence, and/or providing relief coverage in a specific position. Once hired into a casual role, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings, including permanent part-time or full-time positions. There are many opportunities with Interior Health that begin with casual positions and lead to regular employment.
