Bureau Veritas is seeking a Laboratory Analyst to join our team in Food Microbiology. As a Laboratory Analyst, you will be responsible for performing basic testing procedures, sample preparation, and recording results in logbooks and on FCDs. You will also be required to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) when conducting laboratory work or procedures.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Adhere to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy.
  • Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program.
  • Perform sample preparation and procedures prior to analyses.
  • Record results in logbooks and on FCDs, data entry into LIMS may also be required.
  • Follow SOPs and WIs when conducting laboratory work or procedures.
  • Ensure a high level of accuracy in sample prep and analysis.
  • Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling, sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materials.
  • Prioritize daily workload based on sample and client requirement.
  • Provide Supervisor/Manager with updates on workstation status including advance notification of any delays.
  • Understand analysis procedures and problem solve issues.
  • Identify any non-routine samples and seek guidance on procedures for handling.
  • Identify and communicate non-conformances to Supervisor.
  • Maintain training records and relevant qualifications.
  • Meet quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements.
  • Keep work area clean, neat and organized.
  • Participate, when requested in Department and Health & Safety meetings.
  • Participate, when requested in internal and external audits.
  • Provide training, technical expertise and mentoring to junior staff.
  • Proactive in ensuring that consumable supplies are available in the lab.
  • Ensure that instruments and equipment are appropriately maintained.
  • All other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:



  • Post-secondary school education and equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated success in the role of a Laboratory Technician.
  • Accurately follows SOPs and WIs.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Basic understanding of Bureau Veritas's Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills.
  • Works both independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail orientated and record keeping skills.
  • Learns quickly.
  • Adapts to a changing environment.
