In the mining industry, gaining hands-on experience in water treatment, environmental management, and health and safety is crucial. We strongly encourage local Mi'gmaq First Nations students to apply for this role, with preference given to Pabineau and Eel River Bar First Nations applicants.
Job OverviewThis 4-month work term opportunity at our Brunswick Smelter Reclamation Site in Belledune, New Brunswick, allows you to join our small operations team. The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day site operations, including water management facilities and the water treatment plant.
Responsibilities:- Assist with collecting water samples from surface water and groundwater sources;
- Clean and calibrate monitoring instruments such as pH, turbidity, and conductivity probes;
- Develop and maintain a technical report archive;
- Assist with maintaining the site's environmental database;
- Review, gather, and enter data for routine reporting requirements, including operations and health and safety;
- Assist with developing and maintaining site-related procedures and documents;
- Participate in respirator hygiene fit testing;
- Support relevant projects that may occur.
- University or college student enrolled in a post-secondary program; studies in environmental science, environmental engineering/technician, civil engineering/technician, water resources engineering/technician, earth sciences, or geoscience are considered an asset but not mandatory;
- A critical and analytical thinker;
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
- Strong Microsoft Word and/or Excel capabilities;
- Relevant work, co-op, or research experience is considered an asset;
- A valid driver's license;
- Ability to work safely at a remote site and outdoors in various weather conditions.
