Job Title: Regional Operations Director

Join the Government of Nunavut as a Regional Operations Director and take on a challenging role that requires strong leadership and management skills.

About the Role

This is a senior management position that reports directly to the Assistant Comptroller General. As a Regional Operations Director, you will be responsible for managing the departmental regional budget and the administration of pay and benefits to approximately 600 regional employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the departmental regional budget and ensure timely payment of all government accounts payable.
  • Oversee information processing and management, including data entry, inquiry, and report processing on FreeBalance and ePersonality.
  • Direct the training of regional employees in data entry, inquiry, and report processing.
  • Provide advice and interpretation of the Financial Administration Manual (FAM) to regional departments and agencies.
  • Facilitate financial and pay and benefit services to the GN.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An in-depth knowledge of public administration, financial planning and budgeting, human resource management, strategic planning, evaluation, and principles.
  • Proven experience in the application of this knowledge in complex situations having discrete or wide-ranging impact.
  • Knowledge of Financial Accounting Systems and Human Resource Information Systems.
  • Leadership and supervision of employees/performance management requirements.
Education and Experience

You will typically require a recognized Post-Secondary Degree in Public Administration, Economics, Business Administration or related field and an additional five (5) years of progressive management experience in a related field.

Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

A professional accounting designation would be considered an asset.

Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official language is an asset.

Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
