Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Mechanic to join our team at the Provincial Health Services Authority. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs to our heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and troubleshoot HVAC system issues, including temperature complaints and alarms.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to HVAC systems, including cleaning, repairing, and calibrating controllers and sensors.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of energy conservation programs to reduce energy consumption and costs.
  • Collaborate with end-users to determine the nature of the problem and make recommendations for adjustments and/or repairs to enhance the efficiency of the system.
  • Operate and maintain chillers, cooling towers, and associated distribution pumps to ensure peak operating conditions.
  • Respond to indoor air quality complaints by conducting various air quality tests in the field.
  • Participate in the establishment and monitoring of HVAC preventative maintenance programs to ensure the continued operation of HVAC systems within design parameters.
Requirements
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trade Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic or equivalent Trade, Class B level Gas Fitter's Licence with an electrical endorsement recognized by the Province of B.C.
  • Two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
