Job Summary

Six Nations Polytechnic is seeking a highly qualified and experienced STEAM Educator to join our team at the STEAM Academy. As a STEAM Educator, you will be responsible for teaching Cayuga language and STEM subjects to students in a unique and innovative learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and deliver effective instruction and evaluation of student progress in assigned subjects, aligned with Ministry of Education curriculum guidelines.
  • Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
  • Prepare materials and resources for daily classroom activities, utilizing differentiated teaching methods and assessments to meet students' varying needs and interests.
  • Implement assessment and evaluation strategies to measure student progress and provide timely and comprehensive feedback to students and families.
  • Develop individualized student academic schedules and contribute to the development of Individual Education Plans, ensuring each student's plan meets Ontario Secondary School Diploma and college diploma requirements.
  • Collaborate with the STEAM Academy student success team to support student success and well-being.
  • Participate in continuing professional development opportunities to support STEAM Academy programming and stay current with best practices in teaching and learning.
Requirements
  • Cayuga language proficiency.
  • Bachelor of Education degree and Ontario College of Teacher's certification (considered an asset).
  • Experience using D2L and Microsoft TEAMS.
  • Background in or knowledge of STEM/STEAM Pathways.
  • Knowledge of current research and instructional best practices.
  • Superior instructional leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on written expression.
  • Sound interpersonal skills, including communication, organization, negotiation, confidentiality, and professional judgment.

The STEAM Educator will work in a dynamic and innovative learning environment, collaborating with a team of educators and staff to support student success and well-being. The successful candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Background Check - Vulnerable Sector Screening that is satisfactory to Six Nations Polytechnic prior to the first day of work.
