At Humber River Health, we are looking for a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our dynamic Maintenance and Engineering team.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Maintenance Mechanic to perform routine maintenance and repairs on hospital infrastructure equipment and systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining all mechanic equipment, including steam boilers, compressors, generators, air conditioning, and H.V.A.C units.
Main Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on hospital infrastructure equipment and systems.
- Operate and maintain all mechanic equipment, including steam boilers, compressors, generators, air conditioning, and H.V.A.C units.
- Inspect, install, repair, and replace pipes, fittings, and maintain heating, water, and drainage systems.
- Document and record readings from equipment in the appropriate log book or data bank.
- Perform chemical tests on boilers, air conditioning, heating, water softeners, and apply chemicals as needed.
- Clean and change filters as required.
- Perform routine repair duties in the kitchen, C.S.R, and Operating Room.
- Perform routine duties in the mechanical rooms.
- Perform daily or nightly rounds of equipment and systems and record readings on the Rounds Cards.
- Clean, lubricate, and check belts, steam traps, and pumps.
- Participate in all departmental training programs, including Asbestos Awareness and Lock Out/Tag Out.
- Ensure personal protective equipment is properly utilized and maintained.
- Actively participate in all Hospital Codes directly related to Engineering & Maintenance involvement.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a Building Environmental Systems I & II course.
- Graduate of a trade or vocational school is an asset.
- Fourth class stationary engineer is an asset.
- Previous experience in a large institution working with HVAC, Med Gas, Life Safety systems, and other infrastructure equipment is an asset.
- Ability to perform a variety of duties according to specific assignments.
- Excellent communication skills when dealing with staff and patients.
- Excellent attendance and discipline-free record required.
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instruction.
