Job Summary

The Benefits Analyst will lead the Lafarge wellness program while supporting employee benefits and organizational health initiatives for Lafarge Canada. The incumbent will continually evolve the integrated strategy to support a diverse and multigenerational workforce of employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance the safety culture of Lafarge by adhering to safety policies and demonstrating support to organizational safety initiatives.
  • Proactively identify gaps in processes and make recommendations for improvements to enable efficient benefits delivery.
  • Lead revisions of programs to ensure continued support and fulfillment of employee needs.
  • Have a strong understanding of different benefit plan options and technology enablers.
  • Serve as the escalation point for matters related to health and benefits.
  • Ensure retiree taxable benefits are accurately calculated and reported on tax receipts.
  • Manage submitted document change forms and coordinate implementation of benefit plan changes with external vendors.
  • Provide support for benefit program implementations and rollouts.
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of employee education sessions.
  • Coordinate, draft, and review program-related communication materials.
  • Maintain the PenBen file and act as the super-user.
  • Assist with preparation and tracking of severance letters.
  • Support the annual post-retirement valuation, data collections, and submission of data to vendors.
  • Coordinate the annual taxable benefit reporting process for actives, retirees, and Quebec actives/retirees.
  • Manage the annual benefit enrollment exercise.
  • Manage annual audits by responding to auditor's inquiries.
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures and policies related to benefit and wellness programs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of related government rules and regulations for benefits and other applicable labor and/or tax laws and regulations.
  • Assist with and participate in special projects, strategic initiatives, and M&A/divestiture activities.
  • Champion a culture where individuals are given the opportunity to practice wellness and feel empowered to take ownership of their health.
  • Research, analyze, and interpret existing/proposed statutory requirements governing benefits and wellness plans.
  • Provide training and delegate level-appropriate tasks to Admin Support.
  • Support the work of the broader Total Rewards team as required.

Vendor Management:

  • Coordinate with home/auto discount vendors on mailings every two to three years.
  • Work with consultants and vendors on business travel/AD&D renewals.
  • Work with vendors on fitness membership and executive medical renewals.
  • Supervise management of external vendors.
  • Coordinate the implementation of benefit plan changes with external vendors.
  • Fulfill compliance requirements for regulatory and internal reporting requirements.
  • Manage the annual service award programs with external vendors.

Relationships to Others:

  • Country HR teams.
  • Labor Relations Team.
  • All Lafarge employees and retirees.
  • Business Service Centre.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resource Administration, or other related field combined with specialized training in benefits administration or compensation.

Experience and Skill Set:

  • Strong preference for bilingualism in French and English.
  • 3-5 years of progressive corporate benefits experience with an emphasis on managing and executing multiple initiatives and process enhancements.
  • Passionate about elevating the employee experience, corporate health, and wellness.
  • Strong benefits industry and market knowledge of the competitive landscape.
  • Deep understanding of benefits plan administration, cost modeling, and impact assessment of plan changes.
  • A team player with a natural propensity to build and leverage strong internal networks.
  • A strong communicator, compelling storyteller, and influencer.
  • Ability to use data to make informed recommendations.
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and be a bold agent for change.
  • Superior analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal laws pertinent to benefit administration.
