We are seeking a highly skilled Sensory Chemist to lead our analytical method development and validation efforts. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and validating methods for sensory markers, conducting statistical analysis of method validation parameters, and writing complete analytical method Standard Operation Procedures.
About You- You hold a Master's degree or higher in chemistry, food science, oenology, or a related field, with significant experience in analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis.
- You have excellent knowledge of analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis, with expertise in sample preparation, extraction, purification/isolation, and analysis.
- You have demonstrated method development and validation experience, including statistical analysis of method validation parameters, and writing analytical method SOPs.
- You have knowledge of and/or experience in the application of sensory evaluation methods for analysis of beverage alcohol or food products.
- You have demonstrated ability to perform sensory evaluation on various types of beverage alcohol products or food products.
- You have experience in statistical analysis of sensory and analytical data, including hypothesis testing, ANOVA, control charting, etc.
- You have several years' experience in the set-up, trouble shooting, and repair of laboratory instrumentation and related software.
- You have advanced knowledge of computer software, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- You have experience in Laboratory Information Management Systems/chain of custody procedure.
- Familiarity with sensory evaluation data collection and analysis software is an asset.
- You have excellent oral and written communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.
- You have demonstrated work ethics, well-developed interpersonal, leadership, and team building skills.
- You have applied knowledge of Quality Management systems in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO standards.
- You have knowledge of the manufacturing process and composition of alcoholic beverages and progressive experience in a similar or related environment.
- You have a full understanding of and adherence to laboratory safety procedures through WHMIS training and/or other intra-laboratory training.
- You have general knowledge of all Federal and Provincial Acts and Regulations that will impact the importation and sale of beverage alcohol in Ontario.
