About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer to join our Retail Surveillance team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our compliance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our business operations are in compliance with governing regulations and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct compliance oversight and surveillance duties to detect and prevent potential violations of regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of compliance programs and policies to ensure effective risk management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on compliance matters to business stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and developments in the securities industry.
Requirements
- College diploma or university degree in a related field (e.g. law, business, finance).
- 2+ years of experience in compliance or a related field, preferably in the financial industry.
- Relevant industry accreditations or certifications (e.g. CSI Industry courses).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
