As a CBSA Security Guard, you will be responsible for monitoring individuals who have arrived at the airport who are experiencing immigration complications and cannot officially enter the country.

Your duties will include:

  • Ensuring the protection of people, assets, and property.
  • Escorting individuals within the facility, using restraints to ensure the safety of everybody.
  • Demonstrating empathy and compassion and a recognition that you are working with individuals under stress.
  • Observing, monitoring, and reporting on behavior of detainees.
  • Conducting regular foot patrols - both indoor and outdoor facilities.
  • Monitoring and properly utilizing security software and equipment.
  • Generating daily incident reports.
  • Utilizing tactical training to de-escalate potentially dangerous situations.

This work requires vigilance, efficiency, but also a talent for customer service and compassion as you will be working with people within a vulnerable situation.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A valid British Columbia security guard license.
  • A valid and current First Aid Level 1 (OFA1).
  • Advanced Security Training (AST).
  • Canadian citizenship or Permanent residence status.
  • A High School diploma / Proof of education.
  • Ability to pass a Public Works Clearance and a Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • 1-year of security guard experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership capabilities.
  • Experience working in a high-stress environment with quick responsiveness to emergency situations.
  • Understanding of the importance of conciseness, security, and safety.
