Job Summary:

The Transportation Supervisor role at Martin Brower oversees warehouse and transportation operations, ensuring the efficient planning and scheduling of manpower and equipment. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment, fostering employee involvement and morale, and administering daily dispatch while adhering to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute daily manpower requirements to minimize overtime
  • Conduct daily shift meetings to communicate safety and operational messages
  • Assign daily work duties to drivers and warehouse workers, ensuring safety, service, and productivity requirements are met
  • Manage work flows efficiently, adhering to the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Maintain software programs, including Syntellic, Paragon, and Xatanet
  • Create and maintain production and master delivery schedules
  • Audit drivers' trip records for legitimacy
  • Provide training and support to employees on standard operating procedures
  • Oversee quality control for in-house and enroute product
  • Investigate near misses, injuries, and collisions, implementing corrective actions
  • Communicate with Warehouse, Transportation, and Customer Service departments
  • Review service providers' performance to ensure quality and cost requirements are met
  • Perform supervisory functions, including follow-up and recognition/discipline
  • Demonstrate leadership through effective teamwork and a positive attitude
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships across the company
  • Participate in training, inspection, investigation, and continuous improvement programs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, logistics, or a related field
  • Three to five years of experience in high-volume, food service, unionized distribution, or logistics
  • One to three years of supervisory experience
  • Strong computer software skills, including MS Office
  • Experience with Routing and Onboard Software is an asset
  • Leadership competencies and problem-solving skills are required
