  • Operate multiple CNC machines, including four and five-axis mills, lathes, and mill-turn equipment.">
  • Develop and implement complex tooling and fixtures to support advanced machining operations.">
  • Collaborate with CNC programmers and engineers to ensure accurate key dimensions are captured in dimension sheets and Machine Control Systems (MCS).">
  • Modify and reprogram CNC code according to approved Production Control Records (PCRs).">
  • Setup, troubleshoot, and operate a range of machines, including CNC lathe, CNC mill, bandsaw, manual mill, and manual drill press.">
  • Interpret technical drawings to properly set up parts for machining.">
  • Transfer CNC programs between machines as required.">
  • Implement and maintain Tool Life Management across the cell and machines with automated systems.">
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Programming to validate programs, standardize them, and make minor adjustments following established procedures.">
  • Enhance and follow approved work instructions and drawings provided.">
  • Target 100% first-time throughput on setups and have parts expedited through Quality Control.">
  • Follow MCS and complete sign-offs as required.">
  • Perform basic machine adjustments, such as tool offsets, if necessary.">
  • Install tools according to Tooling Set Sheets.">
  • Verify machined parts against technical drawings.">
  • Submit PCRs to identify process deficiencies or suggest improvements.">
  • Comply with tool life replacement programs.">
  • Conduct visual or mechanical inspections of parts for defects, record findings, and notify supervisors as needed.">
  • Utilize measuring and inspection tools, including micrometers, calipers, profilometer, height gauge, indicators, edge finders, thread gauges, pin gauges, and bore gauges with master rings.">
  • Exceed production and quality standards while minimizing reject rates.">
  • Perform routine machine preventative maintenance tasks, such as checking coolants, lubricants, and filters.">
  • Maintain clean machines and work areas and report any abnormalities to the supervisor or maintenance.">
  • Use computer systems for basic departmental transactions.">
  • Moves components safely using lifting devices, such as overhead cranes, jib cranes, and fork-lifts.">

  • Demonstrated expertise in operating various BWXT machines and working on multiple BWXT parts of varying complexity.">
  • Education or experience in manufacturing or equivalent working knowledge of CNC machines.">
  • Certificate of Qualification as a CNC Machinist is an asset.">
  • No less than 5 years' experience operating four and five-axis CNC mills, multi-axis lathes, long lathes, and/or mill-turn machines.">
  • Familiarity with aerospace, defense, or nuclear industries is beneficial.">
  • Able to interpret engineering component drawings, including understanding metrology and GD&T.">
  • Demonstrated adaptability as a team player with effective communication and problem-solving skills.">
  • Ability to work independently, meeting deadlines while maintaining high standards.">
  • Familiarity with lifting devices, such as cranes and forklifts.">
