**Job Title:** Automation Controls Specialist

We're seeking an experienced Automation Controls Specialist to join our team at ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. This role is responsible for designing and developing complete controls solutions and electrical design packages based on customer specifications.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop control systems that enable machines to perform their intended function safely and reliably.
  • Produce complete electrical design packages, including detailed schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and material requisition forms.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Controls Engineering Department and other groups to improve methods of integrating controls technology.
  • Specify all electrical and controls-related hardware and software and produce requisition forms for material purchases.
  • Integrate third-party equipment and electronic component entry into electrical design packages.
  • Verify that electrical design packages are complete, accurate, and safe based on sound design practices and accepted standards.

Requirements:

  • A post-secondary technology diploma or engineering degree or equivalent, specializing in electronics, electrical, or controls technology.
  • Three years' experience in electrical control systems design, preferably in the industrial automation field.
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage distribution systems for automated machinery.
  • Hands-on experience with EPLAN design software (EPLAN 2022 or later).
  • Proficiency in electrical machinery standards.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply customer-specific controls design standards.
  • Working knowledge in performing engineering design calculations.
  • Experience integrating third-party equipment into electrical designs.
