Job Title: Roofer Helper

We are seeking a skilled Roofer Helper to join our team at Ontario Inc. as a key member of our construction crew.

Job Summary:

The Roofer Helper will assist experienced roofers in the installation, repair, and maintenance of roofs on various construction sites. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials to and from job sites.
  • Operate mobile and tower cranes to lift, move, position, or place equipment and materials.
  • Clean and lubricate cranes to ensure proper functioning.
  • Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades.
  • Operate pile driving cranes to drive pilings into earth to provide support for buildings and other structures.
  • Instruct apprentices on proper techniques and safety protocols.
  • Assist medical examiners as needed.
  • Operate locomotive cranes to move objects and materials at railway yards.
  • Assist in drilling and blasting rock on construction sites.
  • Operate offshore oil rig cranes to unload and reload supply vessels.
  • Assist in demolishing buildings.
  • Clean and pile salvaged materials.
  • Operate dragline cranes to expose coal seams and ore deposits at open pit mines.
  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites.
  • Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction.
Requirements:
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Participation in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees.
  • Recruitment of newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster.
  • Provision of diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees.
  • Participation in a government or community program or initiative that supports youth employment.
  • Participation in a government or community program or initiative that supports Veterans.
  • Participation in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people.
  • Offering mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.

  • Provision of cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
  • Facilitation of access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers.
  • Participation in a government or community program or initiative that supports mature workers.
  • Participation in a government or community program or initiative that supports members of visible minorities.
  • Application of hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities.
  • Offering mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees.
  • Provision of diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for members of visible minorities.
