We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Railway Safety Officer to join our team at CN. As a CN Constable, you will play a critical role in protecting our people, business, and reputation by proactively promoting rail safety through enforcement, education, and engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Prevent railway grade-crossing and pedestrian collisions by conducting proactive problem-solving and targeted enforcement.
- Liaise with local law enforcement and first responders during railway-related incidents.
- Proactively address potential railway network disruptions.
- Maintain relationships with federal, provincial, and local law enforcement agencies and community stakeholders.
- Protect CN freight and assets from threats and problem-solve incidents.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local partners, including first responders, coroners, and community leaders.
- Provide rail safety training for internal CN employees, local first responders, and community members.
- Conduct rail safety presentations for various audiences.
- Build professional relationships with stakeholders to protect CN's people, business, and reputation.
- Work in an outdoor environment, including inclement weather.
- Be available to work shifts, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.
- Be on-call to respond to critical events.
- Meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and manage stress.
- Travel over a large geographical area based on operational demands.
- Graduate of or ability to graduate from an accredited police academy.
- Certified or eligible to certify in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Valid driver's license with proper classifications.
- Reside within 50 km of the assigned detachment office.
- Demonstrate good teamwork and maintain positive interactions with other departments and local law enforcement agencies.
- Possess sound judgment, professionalism, autonomy, and initiative.
- Make informed and timely decisions.
- Work independently for long periods.
- Fluently bilingual (English, French) desirable.
