Director, Data and Analytics

Alberta Innovates is seeking a visionary leader to spearhead our data-driven transformation. As Director, Data and Analytics, you will leverage modern data practices and technologies to revolutionize how we view, manage, and utilize data for reporting and intelligence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead governance and drive organizational change to foster a data-driven culture
  • Oversee data technology platforms and delivery of data products
  • Develop and communicate strategic plans for data and analytics initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities
  • Implement and operate data management technologies, prioritizing data integrity, security, and accessibility
  • Drive organizational change towards a data-driven culture by promoting awareness and adoption of data and analytics capabilities
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
  • ~10+ years of experience in progressively responsible roles within data management, analytics, corporate reporting, business intelligence, or related fields
  • ~5+ years of experience in leadership positions, with demonstrated leadership in areas such as data analysis, business intelligence, data engineering, or data governance
  • Proven record of successfully leading and developing technical teams, managing complex projects, and delivering impactful business outcomes
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to translate business needs into data strategies and initiatives
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Data-related certification (e.g., Certified Data Professional)
  • Combination of private and public sector experience
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau, or similar
