The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) invites applications for two Research Assistant Professor positions in Applied Optimization and Operations Research, Data Science and Analytics, Applied Statistics and Financial Mathematics, Engineering and Computational Mathematics, and Mathematical Science.
About the DepartmentThe Department of Applied Mathematics (AMA) is a leading research and academic institution in the field of applied mathematics. With a strong focus on interdisciplinary research, AMA offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Scheme in Data Science. The department has established a Joint Laboratory of Applied Mathematics with the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
About the RoleThe appointees will be required to conduct research as the main duty, actively pursue external research grants, and provide quality teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level. They should have a PhD degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Financial Mathematics/Operations Research/Computational Mathematics/Applied Mathematics or a closely related field with experience in Data Science and Analytics.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research and actively pursue external research grants;
- Provide quality teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level;
- Have a PhD degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Financial Mathematics/Operations Research/Computational Mathematics/Applied Mathematics or a closely related field with experience in Data Science and Analytics;
- Possess at least two years of relevant postdoctoral research experience;
- Demonstrate promise of a high level of creativity in research and teaching;
- Show effective classroom teaching skills;
- Be highly proficient in written and spoken English.
