Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong commitment to providing high-quality early childhood education and care. As an Early Childhood Educator, you will play a vital role in supporting the development of young children and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement curriculum plans that promote the physical, emotional, and cognitive development of children from birth to age six.
  • Provide mentorship and support to students participating in field practice and lab components of early childhood education courses.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to early childhood education.
Requirements
  • Must have completed the required coursework to be in possession of, or eligible for, Level I Certification through the Association of Early Childhood Educators Newfoundland and Labrador (AECENL).
  • Extensive knowledge of early childhood education principles and legislation.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently with limited supervision.
Working Conditions

This is a physically demanding role that requires the ability to lift and move children weighing up to 50 lbs, as well as sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent basis. The ability to work in awkward or cramped positions requiring bending and kneeling is also required. A high level of alertness with exceptional visual and auditory skills is necessary to ensure the well-being of all children, including those with special needs, in a fast-paced environment.
