Job Title: Family Therapist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Family Therapist to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a Family Therapist, you will work with adolescents experiencing acute mental health needs on a 10-bed adolescent psychiatric unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, family, and case management support for youth admitted to the unit.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.
  • Provide clinical-focused consultation with other programs or community resources.
  • Act as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a health-related field.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
  • Several years of clinical experience as a family counselor, with supervision.
  • Able to function as a Family Therapist while collaborating with other team members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Able to manage a varied caseload.
  • Able to demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and recognize limitations.
  • Able to demonstrate skills in interpersonal relationships.
  • Able to handle crisis and stressful situations in a calm facilitative manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of the Brain Story Certificate.
  • Training in trauma-informed care.
  • Non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI) training.
  • Successful completion of an accredited certificate program with full membership in AAMFT.
