Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Management Leader to join our team at Trinity Western University. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all daily activities related to custodial, waste management, and pest control functions of the university.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and implement custodial services for all campus buildings, including upkeep and special finishes and cleaning of all buildings.
- Manage and document waste stream data as part of the waste management program on campus.
- Oversee an effective Pest Control program on campus and document data.
- Ensure all custodial equipment is working properly.
- Conduct evaluations for direct reports, make recommendations for employment or termination, and adhere to university policies and procedures.
- Ensure departmental adherence to all applicable safety requirements and provide training opportunities for staff as required.
- Solicit competitive bids for supplies and services, evaluate for best fit, and monitor supplier performance.
- Inspect all areas every week, communicate with staff and faculty, and visit Building Services staff in their work area at least weekly.
- Prepare annual budget requests, submit them for approval, and ensure services are provided cost-effectively.
- Monitor budget expenses and communicate unusual or unplanned expenditures to the supervisor.
- Update Key Performance Indicators to optimize operations.
- Encourage spiritual growth and skill development amongst staff through regular staff meetings and promote Christian relationships within the community.
- Model Jesus Christ in all on- and off-campus contacts, living out the mission of the university.
Requirements
- Superior interpersonal and management skills with various staff, faculty, administration, and students from different nationalities and cultures.
- Superior supervisory skills in planning, organizing, prioritizing, scheduling, and implementation.
- Demonstrated skill in conflict resolution.
- Skilled in maintenance, custodial, and work practices.
- Able to manage and supervise a large service department staff, working positively and flexibly with all areas and departments on campus.
- Able to plan and prioritize physical and human resources efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally.
