In this role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all daily activities related to custodial, waste management, and pest control functions of the university.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and implement custodial services for all campus buildings, including upkeep and special finishes and cleaning of all buildings.
  • Manage and document waste stream data as part of the waste management program on campus.
  • Oversee an effective Pest Control program on campus and document data.
  • Ensure all custodial equipment is working properly.
  • Conduct evaluations for direct reports, make recommendations for employment or termination, and adhere to university policies and procedures.
  • Ensure departmental adherence to all applicable safety requirements and provide training opportunities for staff as required.
  • Solicit competitive bids for supplies and services, evaluate for best fit, and monitor supplier performance.
  • Inspect all areas every week, communicate with staff and faculty, and visit Building Services staff in their work area at least weekly.
  • Prepare annual budget requests, submit them for approval, and ensure services are provided cost-effectively.
  • Monitor budget expenses and communicate unusual or unplanned expenditures to the supervisor.
  • Update Key Performance Indicators to optimize operations.
  • Encourage spiritual growth and skill development amongst staff through regular staff meetings and promote Christian relationships within the community.
  • Model Jesus Christ in all on- and off-campus contacts, living out the mission of the university.

Requirements

  • Superior interpersonal and management skills with various staff, faculty, administration, and students from different nationalities and cultures.
  • Superior supervisory skills in planning, organizing, prioritizing, scheduling, and implementation.
  • Demonstrated skill in conflict resolution.
  • Skilled in maintenance, custodial, and work practices.
  • Able to manage and supervise a large service department staff, working positively and flexibly with all areas and departments on campus.
  • Able to plan and prioritize physical and human resources efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally.
