About the Role:

The Protection Specialist is responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Great Blue Heron Charity Casino while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for guests. This involves protecting patrons and colleagues from theft, fraud, and other forms of abuse, ensuring a high level of service and respect at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

The Protection Specialist will perform various duties throughout their shift, including controlling access to the facility and sensitive areas, escorting visitors, and assisting departments. They will also be responsible for monitoring and recording incidents in a daily log and assigned notebook. Additionally, the successful candidate may be required to provide first aid and medical attention as needed.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, the Protection Specialist must possess excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, as well as the ability to exceed guest expectations through effective communication. A minimum of two years of experience working with the public in a service role or the service industry is required. A high school diploma or equivalent is also necessary, with post-secondary education being an asset. Computer literacy in MS Office and the ability to obtain Smart Serve certification are also essential requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience or training in security is an asset, as is a willingness to learn and develop new skills. The successful candidate should also have a current First Aid/CPR certification and be able to obtain registration as a Category 2 Gaming Assistant with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
