Nurse Practitioner

Island Sexual Health Community Health Centre (ISH) is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team. As a key member of our team, you will provide a blend of longitudinal primary care services and focused sexual health services to populations residing in Greater Victoria, Saanich, and the Western Communities.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will provide low-barrier healthcare services, including primary care and sexual health services, to individuals aged 12 and older. You will work collaboratively with our team to provide wrap-around care, peer-support, and sexual education. Your expertise will be essential in addressing the social determinants of health and providing comprehensive care to our diverse patient population.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide safe and effective longitudinal primary care services, adhering to BC College of Nursing Professionals practice standards and guidelines.
- Conduct thorough medical histories and physical assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, and provide appropriate medical interventions.
- Prescribe medications within statutory and regulatory standards, limits, and conditions for Nurse Practitioners.
- Assess and diagnose sexually transmitted infections, providing comprehensive sexual health services, including independent testing and counselling.
- Assess, counsel, and dispense birth control medications, demonstrating extensive knowledge of different birth control methods and medications.
- Participate in professional development activities to ensure effective and safe patient care.
- Collaborate with our interdisciplinary care team, including consultation and shared care with team members.
- Participate in quality improvement and quality assurance activities.
- Provide mentorship to Nurse Practitioner students in collaboration with our team.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in primary care and sexual health services, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be a registered Nurse Practitioner with a valid license to practice in British Columbia.
