Amazon is seeking a highly skilled Senior Language Data Specialist to join our Alexa Customer Journeys team. As a key member of this team, you will play a critical role in driving innovative projects by designing and implementing principled strategies for data optimization.

Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned data professional with expertise in Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, and Large Language Models. You will collaborate with fellow language data scientists, program managers, and stakeholders in science, engineering, and product teams to understand the role data plays in developing datasets and exemplars that meet customer needs.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

">
  • ">
  • Designing and leading data collection efforts; defining scope and target, providing guidelines and training, guiding teams cross-site to meet quality bars, and running evaluations of data for handoff.">
  • Automating operations and performing data analysis using Python or other scripting languages.">
  • Collaborating with Scientists and Software Engineers to help design APIs and evaluate performance of LLM.">
  • Producing and manipulating different types of language data, analyzing, and providing efficient solutions.">
  • Testing and deploying changes to Alexa's language understanding codebase.">
  • Owning the customer-facing machine learning and deterministic models for a specific domain of features.">
  • Using modeling tools to bootstrap and test new functionalities.">

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

">
  • ">
  • A Bachelor's degree in operations research, applied mathematics, theoretical computer science, or equivalent.">
  • 4+ years of data scientist or similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling, and communication experience.">
  • Experience in Python or another scripting language.">
  • Experience in Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, or Large Language Models.">
  • Practical knowledge of version control and agile development.">
  • Experience managing multiple competing priorities and projects.">
  • Experience with reporting tools like Tableau or other BI packages.">

  • A Master's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science.">
  • Experience as a leader and mentor on a data science team.">
  • Knowledge of scripting for automation (e.g., Python, Perl, Ruby).">
  • Familiarity with Java for debugging and following code.">

Estimated Salary Range: $140,000 - $220,000 per year
