Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Subcontractor Administrator to join our team at Scarborough Transit Connect. As a Subcontractor Administrator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned subcontracts, identifying potential financial or contractual difficulties and communicating these risks to management.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate these risks and ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to determine subcontract rates and resource lists, ensuring they meet project requirements.
  • Evaluate subcontractors' compliance with subcontract requirements, taking corrective action as necessary.
  • Negotiate variations, claims and change issues with subcontractors, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Compile records of change management/issue logs and provide summary reports to stakeholders.
  • Address variation/rate changes and delay issues in a timely manner, minimizing disruptions to projects.
  • Maintain accurate contractual correspondence, ensuring all parties are informed of project developments.
  • Source qualified suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring they meet project requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering consultants to ensure commercial deliverables meet project requirements.
  • Administer contractor warranties, insurance and bonds, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Close out subcontracts in coordination with related stakeholders, ensuring a smooth transition.

Requirements

  • Civil Engineering / Construction / Legal / Business Administration related post-secondary education or an equivalent combination or relevant technical training and experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in contract administration and coordination; preferably rail transit project or large scale infrastructure experience would be a strong asset.
  • Experience with cost reimbursable subcontracts and time and material subcontracts is strongly recommended.
  • Experience preparing and issuing subcontracting documentation is required.
  • Strong awareness of construction and contract change law.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office products.
  • Able to conduct business ethically and act with discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Able to work under pressure and multitask.
  • A dedicated team player with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
