Our Opportunity

The Manager, Construction, Firehouse Subs Canada West will play a critical role in supporting the growth and development of the Firehouse Subs brand in the Canada West region. This position will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of construction projects from start to finish, providing professional guidance, managing schedules and budgets, and reporting project status to internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Partner with the Design and Regional Construction team to improve construction processes and drive growth in the region.
  2. Coordinate new store development and remodels with Area Franchise Leads, Divisional Development Leads, and Company Restaurant partners, establishing positive relationships and ongoing communication.
  3. Adhere to regional and national construction and operational standards and objectives.
  4. Direct all phases of construction project management, including due diligence, schedule and budget development, planning and design, FF&E procurement, and store move coordination.
  5. Serve as the Firehouse Subs liaison with all Firehouse Subs departments and outside contractors, equipment suppliers, consultants, landlords, and governing authorities, coordinating toward common goals while making critical decisions in a professional manner.
  6. Work with region leadership on store plan design and act as company liaison to general contractors, vendors, and the construction community.
  7. Help manage the regional equipment buyer and equipment buying process, ensuring timely purchases of store fixtures and equipment as designated by Store Operations, and coordinating all deliveries and installations.
  8. Supervise and perform all aspects of construction administration, including negotiating contracts, change orders, project schedules, purchase order management, invoicing, and project closeout documentation.
  9. Evaluate existing and potential consultants and contractors in Firehouse Subs' Business Partner Network.
  10. Provide necessary reporting and analysis to track franchise construction performance.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent construction experience.
  2. 7+ years relevant construction experience; QSR or Casual Dining Restaurant experience preferred.
  3. Experience preparing construction budgets and tracking to actual costs.
  4. Familiarity with store equipment package, planning, and operations.
  5. Proficient in computer estimating, scheduling, and database applications.
  6. Basic understanding of restaurant food operations.
  7. Willingness to travel throughout the region with flexibility to work different hours, including early morning and late night work.
  8. Ability to effectively organize and handle multiple projects under pressure simultaneously.
  9. Exceptional human relationship skills; exhibits tact in handling challenging situations.
  10. Ability to work with design consultants to facilitate development and construction drawings in an effective and timely manner.
  11. Strong demonstrable leadership and management skills.
  12. High proficiency in written and verbal communication skills.
  13. High proficiency skills in Excel.
  14. Honesty, high integrity, personal accountability, and a passion for the success of the brand and the team.
  15. Travel required approximately 80%.
