Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Lead Hand to join our team at GFL Environmental. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and supervising a team of technicians responsible for the preventive maintenance and repair of industrial equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee the daily planning and scheduling of all repair work to optimize productivity, ensuring that all repairs and maintenance are performed in accordance with Company safety and compliance standards, and with all federal regulations.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise, coach, train, and evaluate employee performance or behavior, providing input into hiring, disciplinary action, terminations, compensation, and promotion decisions.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform a variety of diagnostics and repairs on industrial equipment, including electronics, conveyers, and compactors that support our processing facilities operations.
  • Quality Control: Perform inspections of outside repairs to ensure all work was properly completed in accordance with Company's safety and compliance procedures and federal/state regulations, and follow up where appropriate.
  • Record Keeping: Manage records of all preventive and corrective maintenance performed, recording all information into Company maintenance software.
  • Expense Management: Review and approve expenses that are within approval level, and refer larger expenses or major repairs to manager.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of OSHA, and other related state and federal regulations; specific experience with preventative maintenance and diagnostics on conveyors, electronics, and electronic motors; Red Seal certificate required.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to supervise, coach, counsel, discipline, and train employees; strong work ethic, demonstrating integrity, trust, and maintain confidentiality; ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Education and Certifications: Red Seal certificate required.
