Financial Planning and Analysis Director

The Director, Financial Planning and Analysis is a key leadership role at Thompson Rivers University, responsible for overseeing the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) department and a wide range of functions including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, financial statement reviews, problem resolution, and general business advice to Deans, Managers, and the Executive of the University.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement financial plans and budgets for the University, working closely with the Associate Vice-President, Finance, and other senior leaders.
- Lead a team of financial analysts and planners to deliver high-quality financial information and advice to stakeholders.
- Provide financial analysis and advice to support business decisions, including financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Manage the development and implementation of financial systems and processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment with University goals and objectives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including Deans, Managers, and the Executive.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the FP&A team, including performance management, training, and development.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in financial planning and analysis.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Canadian accounting designation.
- Post-secondary degree (preferably in business).
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in a financial leadership role.
- Excellent supervisory, organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to promote and apply a high value of customer service.
- Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills.
