Responsibilities:

The Child Therapist will work closely with caregivers and other supports to ensure integrated care and continuity in the child's healing journey. They will utilize evidence-based, developmentally appropriate therapeutic interventions that are trauma-informed, attachment-based, and culturally responsive.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) required; Master of Social Work (MSW) or equivalent clinical degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience providing therapeutic counselling to children and youth who have experienced trauma and family violence.
  • Strong knowledge of the dynamics of family violence, its impact on child and youth development, and best practices in child and youth trauma therapy.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement short- and long-term therapy and case management plans collaboratively with children, youth, and their families.
  • Skilled in using creative, play-based, expressive, and developmentally appropriate interventions to support children in processing experiences and building coping skills.
  • Experience working with families from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in a respectful, strengths-based, and culturally safe manner.
