Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join the team at the Evergreen Extended Care Unit at qathet General Hospital in Powell River, BC.
Key Responsibilities- Provide resident care to predominantly older residents in a residential care setting, utilizing sound judgment and critical thinking skills.
- Lead the implementation of clinical interventions and evaluate resident outcomes based on resident goals of care.
- Act as a resource for the interdisciplinary team, providing information and coordination of ongoing resident care.
- Support the work of RCA's and LPN's, promoting cohesive team work to ensure resident-centered care.
- Enhance the quality of life of residents and their families.
- Consult, confer, and collaborate with other healthcare providers.
- Maintain and advance clinical competence.
- Participate on designated committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
This is a regular part-time position with a 0.60 FTE and 22.50 standard hours per week. The successful candidate will have a strong background in nursing practice, with experience in residential care and a commitment to providing high-quality care to residents.
Requirements- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Completion of an approved gerontology course or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to residents who may have chronic diseases.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pathophysiology of common medical conditions, aging changes, polypharmacy, treatment protocols, and nursing interventions related to common diagnoses and specific care situations.
