About the Role

Athabasca University's Faculty of Science and Technology invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor, Computing and Information Systems, with emphasis on Data Science commencing in 2025.

This permanent full-time position offers an exceptional opportunity to join our faculty and contribute to the development of our programs in computing and information systems. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in our Bachelor of Science and Master of Science programs, supervise students, and develop new courses aligned with their research interests.

Responsibilities
  • Teach in the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science programs in Computing and Information Systems
  • Supervise students in undergraduate and graduate levels for research projects and theses
  • Develop new courses as determined by the needs of the programs and their research interests
  • Coordinate and revise existing courses in the program
Qualifications

The successful candidate must hold a completed Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computing and Information Systems, or a related field. They should have expertise in data science and an active research program in one or more areas such as big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cybersecurity. Experience with online systems and teaching online are required. Supervising graduate students is preferred.
