Nurse Practitioner

The Registered Nurse is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to residents in a long-term care facility. As a values-driven professional, you will demonstrate a commitment to resident safety and well-being, while working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide nursing care to residents, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans.
- Supervise and mentor nursing personnel, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and promoting a positive work environment.
- Develop and maintain care plans in collaboration with residents, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Assess resident conditions, recognizing and interpreting symptoms and signs, and implementing interventions as necessary.
- Collaborate with physicians to develop and implement diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
- Observe, report, and record symptoms and administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Ensure the safekeeping of medications and proper care of equipment.
- Teach residents good health habits and maintain a physical and psychosocial environment that meets their needs.
- Notify authorities in the event of life-threatening situations and pronounce death in anticipated situations.
- Evaluate the performance of nursing personnel and ensure confidentiality of resident records.
- Participate in the development and implementation of nursing-related policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with residents, families, visitors, and other departments.
- Participate in committees as required and effectively utilize electronic systems provided.
- Perform other duties as assigned, while working in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Long Term Care Homes Act.
- Diploma or degree in nursing and current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening and TB testing, as per Public Health requirements.
- Proof of annual CPR recertification and a minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in geriatrics or long-term care.
This position is located in a long-term care facility, with exposure to illnesses and germs possible on a daily basis. The work schedule will be determined, with shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
