Humanitarian Affairs Officer

At Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), we are seeking a skilled Humanitarian Affairs Officer to join our team. As a key member of our humanitarian affairs department, you will play a crucial role in advocating for the rights and needs of vulnerable populations affected by conflict, disasters, and healthcare exclusion.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and gather information from various stakeholders, including communities, patients, and staff, to inform MSF's humanitarian advocacy efforts.
  • Develop and implement strategic advocacy plans to raise awareness about the impact of conflict and neglect on communities and people we assist.
  • Collaborate with MSF teams to provide critical humanitarian medical care and ensure access to medical assistance for communities in need.
  • Document the human impact of disasters and conflicts through testimonies and stories, and use this information to inform MSF's advocacy efforts.
  • Write reports and briefs on a wide range of humanitarian issues, including the efficacy of humanitarian responses, war crimes, and healthcare exclusion.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as anthropology, social or political science, law, or gender studies.
  • Relevant work experience in data collection, qualitative research, human rights monitoring, and humanitarian advocacy.
  • Minimum one year of experience in humanitarian advocacy in a context similar to where MSF works.
  • Excellent writing and research skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and present it in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience in managing staff in a multicultural team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English, with proficiency in French (B2 level) or another language (Arabic, Spanish).
Assets
  • Previous experience working with international NGOs, UN agencies, human rights organizations, or protection.
