About this role:

We are seeking a highly organized and communicative Departmental Communications Support Specialist to join our team at the University of Toronto Scarborough.

Key responsibilities:

As a Departmental Communications Support Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the Department's internal and external communications on all programming, teaching, and research-related activities. This will include managing the Department's website and social media presence, coordinating the preparation of high-quality communication materials, and disseminating information to various stakeholders.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Fostering cooperative working relationships with internal and external contacts
  • Coordinating the preparation and distribution of promotional materials
  • Drafting and editing content for print and online communications channels
  • Maintaining information on digital platforms
  • Creating and maintaining a presence on social media platforms
  • Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action, and follow-up items

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field, or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience. You will also require a minimum of three years of related experience in a marketing and/or communications position, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong time management and organizational skills, and experience with website maintenance and updates through content management systems.

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Demonstrated marketing/communications experience working in arts or media-based organizations, post-secondary or not-for-profit sectors
  • Familiarity with video-editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve)
  • Knowledge of copyright rules and procedures

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 08 -- $62,832. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $80,351. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
