Electromechanical Test Lab Specialist

- Collaborate with customers to define test requests and obtain approval from local management for cost, timing, material, and headcount requirements.
- Conduct corrosion vehicle teardowns and e-coat vehicle dissections, instructing a team of technicians and co-op students in the process, documenting issues and concerns.
- Design and operate various hydraulic and mechanical testing equipment to meet customer needs, collecting data on elastomeric-based vehicle components.
- Document findings, including film thickness readings, metal loss readings, and laser scanning of components as required.
- Communicate effectively with product engineers, reporting and sharing information to ensure successful product development.
- Coordinate the shipping of specimens and samples to product engineers and suppliers, working with external suppliers to lead dissections and track budgets.
- Proven experience in the effects of corrosion on various metal alloys and compositions.
- Knowledge of vehicle body, chassis, and suspension systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and VBA.
- Strong time management, leadership, planning, and follow-up skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with Team Center and NX is an asset.
- Valid driver's license and authorization to work in Canada with ability to travel to the USA.
- Previous experience in paint and corrosion evaluation is desirable.
- Engineering experience within the automotive industry, testing experience preferred.
- Consideration for new graduates with related co-op experience.
- Experience working in a unionized environment.
- Good communication and leadership skills to coordinate and instruct bargaining unit mechanics.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or Materials Engineering from an accredited university.
