About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority, providing diagnostic and intervention services for preschool autism. As a key member of our Provincial Preschool Autism Service, you will play a critical role in supporting children and families across the province.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Psychologist, you will be responsible for:

  • Completing clinical diagnostic assessments of children suspected of having a diagnosis of autism
  • Providing high-quality, evidence-based assessment services to children and their families
  • Collaborating with interprofessional teams to provide direct, consultative, or collaborative services with families
  • Developing and implementing individualized management plans with families, taking into account identified strengths and difficulties, as well as the family's priorities and knowledge of available resources
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (NSBEP)
  • Master's or PhD degree in Clinical Psychology or a related field
  • Minimum of three years of pediatric work experience (or one year of post-doctoral supervision and two years of relevant pediatric work experience for PhD holders)
  • Knowledge of typical child development and divergent neurodevelopment, as well as the range of behavioral manifestations of Autism and patterns of co-occurring conditions
  • Ability to create a relevant management plan with the family, taking into account identified strengths and difficulties, as well as the family's priorities and knowledge of available resources
